BeiGene Senior Director, Business Planning in San Mateo, California

Reporting to the VP, Commercial Operations and Business Analytics, the Senior Director, Business Planning, will lead a diverse team supporting commercial and medical affairs in the areas of meeting planning, fleet, field sponsorships as well as project management support for the Commercial Operations and Business Analytics (COBA) team. This person will also represent COBA in cross-functional and launch planning working teams to ensure alignment and success of our key commercialization initiatives. This role will work closely with functional area leads in departmental resource planning, large meeting agenda management, and coordination of quarterly business reviews.

Essential Functions of the job:

  • Lead the Business Planning department and its key vertical business areas, including Global and US Fleet, Global Congress and Meetings, Commercial Contracts, PMO (including COBA budget management (AOP submission), Field Sponsorship program and COBA development.

  • Support communications of key COBA initiatives and project updates, like launch readiness updates across all appropriate functional teams, as well as, to Senior Management.

  • Support additional launch planning processes as they are needed, including global launch planning coordination and vendor project management

  • Lead budget, forecast, and strategic plan submissions for the leadership team

  • Drive, monitor and improve the overall effectiveness of COBA leadership team by managing the team process and leveraging solutions to build team effectiveness, as necessary

  • Lead ad hoc strategic initiatives and/or cross-functional projects as appropriate

  • Oversee the Global Congress and Meeting department and streamline associated processes, such as congress policy to support financial excellence

  • Oversee the Global and US fleet program department, program expansion, and streamline associated processes while creating cost savings opportunities.

  • Oversee the field sponsorships program while improving the process

  • Oversee COBA PMO to ensure that COBA priorities are tracked and provide visibility across the department for prioritization, resourcing, and to ensure efforts align with overall COBA objectives

  • Oversee the Commercial Contracts department to support all Commercial efforts, launch activities and to help drive business deliverables through partnership with key stakeholders, including Legal, Compliance and Procurement

  • Support the COBA development initiative through people centered programs that focus on core competencies, fostering an inclusive culture and supporting team camaraderie

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree required; Masters degree preferred

  • 10+ years’ experience, working within the pharma or biotech industry

  • Prior launch experience and an understanding of drug launch processes, functions, and the interrelated steps needed

  • Strong interpersonal skills – demonstrated ability to work in teams, build strong relationships and influence across functions and across a partnership without formal authority

  • Ability to work with spreadsheets, charts, timelines, PowerPoint, and other software tools to organize, synthesize and communicate cross functional launch readiness information

  • Ability to work cross functionally with many different functions and levels of managers to build a cohesive and high functioning launch readiness process

  • Organizational agility - can confidently gain credibility quickly with leaders across all parts of the organization, including executive management effectively influence

  • Ability to manage complex, cross-functional projects from concept to completion

  • Demonstrates a high degree of creativity and foresight in anticipating and solving complex program issues

  • Excellent organizational and project management skills

  • Strong prioritization and multi-tasking skills

  • Able to think and act across organizational boundaries and beyond traditional constraints
